Legislative Assistant -- House Member Office
Description: The office of Congressman Jim Gerlach is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for a Legislative Assistant to handle policy areas including budget, financial services and housing, all defense/military topics (homeland, immigration, international relations, veterans), education and workforce, and Judiciary. Responsibilities include preparing Member for Floor activities, developing and analyzing legislative initiatives, drafting constituent correspondence and talking points for Member in relevant issue areas, representing the Member in meetings, and other duties as assigned. Qualified applicants will have knowledge of the legislative process, excellent oral and written communication skills, an ability to multitask and be innovative, a familiarity with Internet Quorum (IQ), and able to work well in a fast-paced office under tight deadlines.
