The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) seeks a full-time Research Analyst to conduct research in support of ISW’s Afghanistan Project.

*CASA de Maryland and CASA in Action Synopsis: *CASA de Maryland's primary
mission is to work with the community to improve the quality of life and

low-income Latinos and their families. CASA works with other low-income
immigrant communities, makes its programs and activities available to them,
and joins with other organizations to advocate for social, political, and
economic justice for all low-income communities. CASA de Maryland has
created a separate affiliate to expand the tools we have available to serve
the immigrant community. CASA in Action is a separate, but related,
nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section
501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Although CASA de Maryland and CASA
in Action share a common goal of supporting immigrants and low-income people
in Maryland and adjacent communities, CASA de Maryland and CASA in Action
are separate organizations. Each is a separate nonprofit corporation with
its own board of directors. A set of employees at the two organizations,

• Develop relationships with important allies through one-on-ones,
follow-ups, provision of materials such as talking points, presentations
before their boards or memberships.
• Represent CASA at several national boards and coalitions.
• Ensure the creation of reports that respond to funder data needs and
provide evaluation of progress of strategic goals. Ensure that such
information is captured in computer databases.
• Support the development and expansion of the membership program.

*Position Summary*:

The assistant director will work under the general direction of the director
of field programs and in cooperation with the Carnegie Foundation for the
Advancement of Teaching, the Aspen Institute and various AFT staff both
inside and outside the department on the Building a Teacher Effectiveness
Network (BTEN) joint project. The BTEN project is designed to identify,
analyze and share the best practices related to new teacher development,
specifically from the date of hire until the achievement of tenure. The
assistant director, in concert with staff from the other partner
organizations, will directly support the development and implementation of
high quality new teacher programs in various school districts throughout the
country. This position will be funded by an outside grant and its continued
existence may depend on the continuation of such grant.

Working with the BTEN partners:

- Investigate, analyze and develop high-quality new teacher development
programs in accordance with the BTEN partnership grant.
- Represent the AFT and its affiliates throughout all design,

The Digital Media Program uses all forms of media—including websites, social
networking sites, mobile technologies, and games—to achieve positive changes
in the sexual attitudes, knowledge, and behavior of teens and young adults.

Job Description

The Assistant Director, Digital Media reports to the Senior Director,
Digital Media and will have primary responsibility for the marketing and
outreach efforts of the department with a particular emphasis on
Bedsider.org, The National Campaign’s free online birth control network. The
Assistant Director represents the Digital Media Program when the Senior
Director is not available and, along with the Senior Director, is
responsible for a number of functional areas of the department. Bedsider.org
duties include:

• Develop and put in place a marketing program to support of Bedsider.org.
This marketing plan should nurture existing relationships as well as develop
a new network of relationships to support Bedsider.org. The marketing plan
should include innovative uses of:

o Digital Media - including web 2.0
o Events - both traditional and online
o Collateral - both traditional and online

• Create a “loyalty” program for Bedsider.org that rewards those who use the
site and build a network of Bedsider members that encourages peer
interaction and support.

• Assist in creating, developing, and implementing Bedsider (and other
digital properties). Assist with merchandise sales for Bedsider.

• Be a spokesperson for Bedsider and other Campaign properties.

Other duties include:

programs.

Qualifications

• Expertise in digital marketing best practices, search engine optimization,
paid search, and mobile marketing.

Executive Officer, Director of Development, board members and other

· Manage portfolio of 200-500 prospects and current donors, executing

· Staff Chief Executive Officer, Director of Development, board members
and other staff in their donor responsibilities, including identifying
prospects, helping set up visits, creating solicitor teams, developing
strategies and target amounts for asks and ensuring that all parties
have the resources to carry out their major donor work

· Develop strategies to direct donors to 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4) and
political gifts as the organizations' needs require

· Manage and contribute to the writing and production of individual and
major donor fundraising and marketing materials for internal and
external audiences.

· In coordination with the Development Director, develop and manage
events for major donors.

· Provide stewardship for major donors that will include asking board
members to call/write thank you notes; preparing special personalized
mailings or emails to donors; and writing personalized thank-you letters.

· Collaborate with National Canvass Coordinator to develop and
implement strategies in the membership recruitment and renewal programs
to upgrade donors currently contributing $1,000+ to higher levels.

· Coordinate activities with other organizational constituencies such
as the Canvass Program and State Programs

· Participate as needed in Board Development Committee Meetings

· Dedicate a substantial amount of time for direct asks and scheduling
of meetings.

· Extensive travel required, primarily, but not limited to states with
Clean Water offices.
