Professional Staff Member - Republican Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure seeks experienced professional staff person with extensive background in surface transportation policy to work on the Highways and Transit Subcommittee. Candidates should have a minimum of 8 years of professional experience, much of which should involve highway, transit, or highway safety issues. Congressional experience is ideal and knowledge of the legislative process is required. Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, the ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment, and a proven record of working in a collaborative and results-driven workplace. Deputy Press Secretary - Rep. Ted Poe seeks Deputy Press Secretary whose primary responsibilities will include writing speeches and press releases; staffing Washington-based media events; pitching stories to national media outlets; booking interviews; and expanding social media presence. Applicants must have prior press room experience and national media contacts. Applicants must demonstrate excellent writing skills, be proactive and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Press Secretary – Conservative Midwestern Member of Congress has immediate opening for a press secretary. Position reports directly to the Chief of Staff. The candidate must have a strong understanding of the legislative process as well as strategic communications. Established media contacts required; political campaign experience a plus. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, understanding of emerging media strategies, and a proven record of media placements and serving as on-the-record spokesperson are required. Key roles and responsibilities include: Develops organization’s overall and project-specific media strategies; manages all new media strategies, including but not limited to maintaining existing blog and email newsletter; serves as on-the-record spokesperson; drafts and issues of press releases, editorial memos, advisories, pitches, op-eds, letters to the editor, regular columns, and speeches; develops message materials, talking points, and backgrounders; lead organizer of press events and editorial board meetings; initiates, cultivates, and maintains relationships with media and communications colleagues; provides communications training and preparation and support for district office personnel; serves as principle liaison to Franking Commission, managing Franked mail vendor, TTH vendor, website vendor, and cooperatively working with others on staff to deliver proactive mail to constituents. Necessary qualifications include bachelor’s degree with minimum 3 years experience in media relations, public relations, and/or public affairs; outstanding verbal and written communication skills; comprehensive working knowledge of and personal contacts with media; and familiarity with the unique requirements of print, broadcast, and online media. Legislative Assistant or Counsel – The office of Congressman Geoff Davis is seeking a dedicated individual with at least two to three years of legislative experience to join his hard-working, fast-paced team. Qualified candidates will have experience in tax policy, regulatory policy and/or other issue areas within the jurisdiction of the Ways & Means Committee. The position will include additional domestic policy issue areas. Responsibilities will include crafting legislation and amendments, advising the Congressman on assigned issues, constituent mail within issue areas and developing constituent outreach and communication initiatives. Strong writing and interpersonal skills are essential for any successful candidate. Kentucky ties are a plus, but not required. Responsibilities include managing incoming constituent correspondence, researching and drafting responses, and assisting with occasional legislative activity. Candidate must have good judgment, be organized and resourceful, and be willing to work long hours in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary. Previous Hill and IQ experience is required. Interns and those without professional Hill and IQ experience will not be considered and need not apply. Interns – Congressman James B. Renacci (OH-16) is currently looking for interns to assist in performing research, process the mail, enter data, perform reception duties and other office errands. We are looking for someone considered to be self motivated, detail oriented, professional and personable. The ideal candidates will have excellent research and writing capabilities. These are unpaid positions, but interns will have the opportunity to experience working on Capitol Hill, learn about the legislative process, and attend briefings of interest. Unpaid Interns – The Office of Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-11) has immediate openings for unpaid interns in his Washington, DC office. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to leading constituent tours of the Capitol building, answering phones, sorting mail, and assisting staff with various other tasks. Applicants should possess a great work ethic; have personable communication skills, and strong writing skills. Illinois ties are ideal, but are not required. Interns - The Washington, DC office of Congressman Bill Cassidy (LA-06) is seeking interns to begin immediately. As an intern, you will be responsible for responding to letters, emails, and phone calls from our constituents as well as be required to lead tours of the Capitol complex to visiting constituents and their families. Beyond tours and constituent correspondence, interns will regularly be called upon by staffers to assist them with their duties here in the office.
